Dry Stack Tailings Storage Facility Design

Tierra Group supported construction of the San Albino Mine in Nueva Segovia, Nicaragua. Tierra Group designed a dry stack drum filtered-tailings storage facility. A siting study optimized the dry stack location and minimized CAPEX and OPEX. Tierra Group developed a site-wide water balance and water management plan minimizing contact water for the high rainfall site. Tierra Group worked with Tes-Oro mining engineers to develop a waste rock dump deposition sequence to minimize contact water. Tierra Group’s scope of work included detailed site characterization, trade-off studies, hydrology, hydraulics, and geotechnical engineering analyses to support the dry stack tailings design.

Filtered Tailings Storage Facility Suport

Tierra Group provided tailings management support and developed a detailed stacking plan, water management, and planning support. San Albino filtered tailings are transported to the FTSF via conveyor, spread with a dozer, and compacted. Tierra Group also assisted with monitoring data review and slope stability updates.
