Caeté Complex

Project Highlights:

  • Water Management
  • Water Balance
  • Water Treatment
  • Tailings Storage Evaluation

Tierra Group developed a site-wide water management plan, and performed a liquefaction potential study following the Samarco tailings dam failure in Minas Gerais, Brazil. A tailings storage facility water balance was developed to optimize water usage and minimize risks at the site. Several water management strategies were recommended including enhanced evaporation methods, water reuse and treatment to manage potential process water shortages. A tailings liquefaction potential study assisted Jaguar in their tailings handling activities which includes "farming" pre-deposited tailings to increase tailings storage capacities at several of their tailings storage facilities.
