The Midas Mine is located in northern Nevada, and is owned and operated by Klondex Mines LTD.  The mine is an underground mine with an operating mill. The mine’s existing tailings facilities are nearing their end of operating life and the mine was investigating ways to maximize storage within each facility. Tierra Group assisted Klondex by preparing several evaluations to aid in the mine’s tailings storage operations. Tierra Group’s evaluation included preparation of a tailings management plan and a facility water balance. These evaluations provided the mine with information to manage their tailings deposition and supernatant water pools while also maximizing the facility’s storage capacity. Additionally, Tierra Group prepared a siting study to determine the preferred location of a future tailings storage facility. The siting study included preparing the feasibility level facility design at multiple sites and preparing a design report with Tierra Group’s recommendations.
