The Yauricocha Mine is a polymetallic (copper, lead, zinc) underground mine located in Yauyos Province, Lima, Peru. Tailings are deposited in the Yauricocha Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) located 3km from the process plant. Tierra Group was engaged in 2015 to serve as the engineer of record (EoR), and provided construction quality assurance (CQA) support for the Yauricocha TSF during construction of the Phase 4 dam raise. Tierra Group also reviewed dam raise alternatives in preparation of future dam raises.
Tierra Group conducted an Independent Technical review of Vista Gold Corp’s Mt. Todd Tailings Storage Facility Expansion in Northern Territory, Australia. Tierra Group assisted the 2025 Mt. Todd feasibility study project providing TSF and waste rock dump design and water…
Tierra Group was selected to assist Goldcorp with global Tailings Stewardship Strategy (TSS) implementation at all of Goldcorp’s active tailings sites in Latin America (Mexico, Argentina, and Guatemala). Tierra Group worked in conjunction with Goldcorp and another global engineering consulting…
Sweetwater Mine Permitting Tierra Group’s Team began work at the Sweetwater mine in 1993 assisting permitting and developing tailings impoundment management strategies for the mine. We successfully designed and installed an innovative internal seal for repair of the mine’s damaged…
Tierra Group completed a siting study to evaluate six potential sites for a paste TSF. Tierra Group prepared civil layouts for each TSF, determining embankment fill volumes, evaluating required diversions for upstream catchment areas, and pipeline corridor layouts. Tierra Group…
Tierra Group represented Oracle Ridge Mining as the Qualified Person for portions of the feasibility-level design including the Dry Stack Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) Design, Site-Wide Stormwater Management, Water Supply Pipelines, Haul Road and Access Road Design Improvements, and the…
Tierra Group developed a site-wide water management plan to improve operational water usage and management at Jaguar Mining's Turmalina Complex in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Turmalina is a zero-discharge facility that required optimizing tailings supernatant usage in the process, enhanced evaporation…
Tierra Group evaluated the Tajo Crimea Pit’s geotechnical and hydrogeological characteristics to determine in-pit tailings storage feasibility. The project scope defined geotechnical and hydrogeologic site conditions through field investigations and in-situ pump testing. Tierra Group developed a 3D groundwater model…
Tierra Group implemented a corporate Tailings Stewardship Strategy (TSS) at all of ASARCO Grupo Mexico’s mines in Arizona, USA (Hayden, Mission and Ray mines). Tierra Group conducted a site visit to each site to perform dam safety inspections, interview operations staff,…
Tierra Group provided a feasibility-level Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) design for Condor Gold’s La India Project permitting, a planned 2,000 tpd open pit mine in western Nicaragua. TSF embankments used rockfill from the open pit and a geomembrane liner for…
Don Mario Mine is an open pit gold/copper mine located in the Chiquitos Province, Santa Cruz, Bolivia that has been operating since 2002 and currently produces 2700 tpd mill throughput. Conventional tailings are transported and deposited in a high-density polyethylene lined geomembrane valley…
The Stibnite project is located in the remote central Idaho Rockies near the town of Yellow Pine. It is a brownfields gold-antimony project featuring three open pits and an anticipated 22,000 tpd plant throughput, along with challenging terrain and environmental…
