La Mina Aurora (anteriormente Esmeralda Mill) se encuentra en el histórico distrito minero Aurora de la cordillera oriental de Sierra Nevada en Nevada, EE. UU. Recientemente, Aurora, con el apoyo de Tierra Group, realizó una modificación menor al permiso de control de contaminación del agua (WPCP) de la Mina, a fin de reiniciar la operación de la planta de la Mina y permitir el procesamiento de relaves históricos de la Obra de depósito de relaves 1 (TSF1).  Los relaves de la planta de reprocesamiento se colocarán en el depósito de relaves 2 (TSF2), que es una obra completamente revestida y puesta en servicio en 2012. Ambas obras de relaves están compuestas por una presa de relaves jurisdiccional. Tierra Group se desempeñó como Ingeniero de Registro para ambas presas. Las modificaciones al WPCP diseñadas por Tierra Group también incluyeron una nueva plataforma de contención de concreto, el revestimiento de varios estanques y la preparación de un plan de cierre revisado para el TSF1.

El manejo de relaves en Aurora es único y desafiante debido a su gran elevación (7.000 pies snmm) en una región altamente sísmica, con un clima relativamente árido que presenta nevadas durante los meses de invierno. Como Ingeniero de Registro, Tierra Group ofrece servicios de consultoría, diseño y construcción para ambos depósitos de relaves de Aurora.
